Classy is Waiving Fees on #GivingTuesday

Classy is thrilled to announce that we’re partnering with the organizers of #GivingTuesday this year to help nonprofits and social enterprises make the most of this growing tradition. For the second year in a row, we’ll be waiving our Classy transaction fees on #GivingTuesday, December 1, 2015, for EVERY organization and EVERY campaign on the platform! Yes, and that means yours too if you create an account before #GivingTuesday! (Did we mention you can start a campaign with Classy, for free?)

We’ll also be offering a series of specialized fundraising resources that we’re co-developing with the good folks at #GivingTuesday. We will release these free fundraising resources to any nonprofit eager to participate in #GivingTuesday. So, before I go any further, take a quick minute and sign up to receive this content.

Ok, we’re back…

Here’s a quick history of #GivingTuesday: Back in 2012, the United Nations Foundation and 92nd Street Y partnered to follow up Black Friday and Cyber Monday with a global day of giving. In the event’s first year, they partnered with 2,500 nonprofit organizations and since then #GivingTuesday has grown exponentially:

#GivingTuesday 2014 …

  • Raised $45.7 million
  • Elicited nearly 700,000 tweets with the #GivingTuesday hashtag
  • Experienced a 55% increase in the number of participating organizations
  • Inspired a 400 percent increase in donations on Classy from 2013

And we expect this year to be even bigger, with millions of dollars being raised on this one day. So why waive our transaction fees you ask?

It’s actually pretty simple. #GivingTuesday was created to support and celebrate social impact organizations and we thought it was only right to do our part by giving back.

But we’re not just waiving our Classy fees; we want to roll up our sleeves and help you plan your best #GivingTuesday campaign yet. In the months leading up to #GivingTuesday, we’ll offer a ton of content for organizations large and small that are planning a #GivingTuesday campaign on Classy. No virtual gimmicks here, just a set of really useful best practices to help you achieve your goals.
