As of Friday morning, Hurricane Florence’s winds, rain, and storm surges continue to pound into towns, flooding streets and homes inland with up to 40 inches of rain. In just the city of New Bern, North Carolina, more than 200 people have been rescued, while life-threatening conditions and a deadly storm surge force about 150 to still wait for help. Over 200 emergency shelters across North and South Carolina are currently housing over 26,000 people, and more than 600,000 people have lost power. Florence is projected to move into and hover over southeastern North Carolina and eastern South Carolina through Saturday.
