Nonprofits Share Top Priorities in Nationwide Survey
We’re officially halfway through the year, and while some people are relishing the long days of summer sun, nonprofit professionals are using the “summer slump” to prepare for Giving Tuesday, perform a nonprofit SWOT analysis, or read the latest industry reports.
The slower summer months are not only a great time for your organization to take stock of what you’ve accomplished so far, but to also ideate on what can take you to the next level.
To help your nonprofit determine its priorities for the rest of the year, we’re sharing where other nonprofits are currently focused and where they hope to increase time and resource investment. Understanding what your peers have top-of-mind as they embark on the second half of the year could help guide your own priorities.
These insights come from our recent survey of more than 1,000 nonprofit employees (manager level and above) from around the U.S. From these results, we created a brand new report that examines what motivates, inspires, and concerns today’s nonprofit industry professionals.

Another notable finding from our recent report, World-Changing Work: The Modern Nonprofit Professional’s Experience, is that 74% of nonprofit professionals look to other nonprofit organizations for inspiration or to get ideas on how to improve their organization. When asked to select their top sources for industry news, respondents reported turning to other colleagues (59%), social media (57%) and industry conferences (51%).
If you’re in between the conference circuit or don’t have a nonprofit friend to call, the report also digs into job satisfaction, fundraising, marketing, technology, team alignment, and more to share exclusive insights that anyone who works in or with the nonprofit sector can leverage and learn from.
