2020 Back to School Giving has raised $1,713 out of their goal of $10,000
The future of positive community-police relations relies on building trust through non-enforcement activities and STAR/PAL is leading the charge on this movement in San Diego with our unique programs.
HOW YOU CAN SUPPORT OUR PROGRAMS...
If you would rather help us purchase school supplies, here is the link to our Amazon Wish List we have put together with specific requests from our students! It ranges from pens and pencils to Chromebooks for at home learning. PLEASE COPY AND PASTE THIS LINK: https://a.co/93D2UNR
We miss our students GREATLY but STAR/PAL is practicing social distancing in accordance to health and safety guidelines. This level helps with the distribution of activity kits our students can take home and follow along with our instructional videos!
Since most classes have resumed online and our students homes are doubling as their classroom, this level will provide much needed supplies to ensure our students success during this nontraditional school year. Folders, planners, and other supplies will help keep our students organized and ready to tackle this year!
Until we are able to resume athletic activities in groups, we are encouraging our students to stay active at home! In partnership with the LA Chargers and SD Loyal, we are providing our students with instructional workout videos where they can follow along with their favorite athletes. This level will help us provide these kids with the proper athletic wear and equipment they need to participate!
This level would support a program like Making Changes, which teaches youth about team building, social responsibility, conflict resolution, goal setting, financial literacy, leadership, community service, etiquette training and civic engagement.
Help us bring impactful STAR/PAL programs into the classroom, virtually! We're investing in the necessary technology and our Director of Education is building curriculum for our partner schools that will provide an engaging and refreshing take on Zoom lessons. Students will develop critical life skills through mentorship with law enforcement officers.
The future of positive community-police relations relies on building trust through non-enforcement activities and STAR/PAL is leading the charge on this movement in San Diego. Your gift will help us build safer communities through impactful programming and events with law enforcement officers that focus on the needs of the students and families we serve.
About the Campaign
This year's back to school traditions look a lot different.. but STAR/PAL is determined to make sure our students are prepared for a successful year!
STAR/PAL will be continuing with our free programs for underserved and at-risk youth in San Diego via Zoom until we are able to resume in-person programming. We will be teaching our curriculum in local schools and enriching students through law enforcement officer led programs.
Be a part of empowering San Diego youth and building positive relationships with law enforcement today!
MEET VANESA
Vanesa joined our STAR/PAL family 2 years ago and has been sharing her cheerful spirit with us ever since! Her favorite memory from our program is her visit to Disneyland and the endless singing on the bus ride and all the memories she made during that trip with her friends and mentors. She has been accepted to the Sacramento State University where she is studying Business!
MEET QUETZALLI
Graduating with an incredible 4.0 her senior year, Quetzalli is now studying Biology at the University of Arizona. She grew her passion for science while at STAR/PAL and was able to attend the 2019 Berkeley Medical Program where she learned the ins and outs of medical school where she dreams to one day attend. As a Presidential Service Award winner and an unstoppable student, there is nothing that she cannot achieve. Way to go Quetzalli!
MEET KEVIN
Kevin began attending STAR/PAL programs when he was a Sophomore and made some AMAZING connections with friends and mentors. Through our Making Changes program, Kevin learned about public speaking, teamwork, and communication. He is now bringing those skills with him to San Diego Mesa College to learn about computer science and one day work for a big tech company like Apple or Google!
