Back in Use recycles assistive devices and gives them free of charge to people with disabilities and seniors.
Support Back in Use through a financial gift to help Adelante operate this cost-effective and helpful program.
Seniors and people with disabilities often need adaptive equipment to regain or maintain their independence, but they can’t get access because the expense is too big of a hardship on the family or because many insurance plans won’t cover walkers, shower chairs, or other needed devices. Thankfully, Back in Use is there to help.
Back in Use re-uses equipment others no longer need. These efforts save medical costs and keep useful items out of the landfill. Our team inspects, cleans, and sanitizes devices before they are given away
Your donations are important to people in our community.
A 26-year old woman we worked with, suffered a traumatic injury to the brain stem and cerebellum, the parts of the brain that control movements, after reaching under a shelf and hitting her head on a marble countertop. Due to this accident, Maddie is unable to walk and came to Back in Use in search of a wheelchair. She currently has no insurance and could not afford a wheelchair without our support. We were able to provide her with a wheelchair. We also provided a walker because she let us know she was planning to start physical therapy and we wanted to make sure she had the tools she might need to regain her mobility. Maddie and her family are very grateful for the Back in Use program and the wheelchair has helped the family tremendously. This case was a reminder to our team that nobody knows when disability could hit close to home, and why the funding for this program remains so important.
Your donation today will make sure we have the materials and staff to collect donations and sanitize equipment for people in need.
Your donation to Back in Use will mean that seniors and people with disabilities can receive equipment they need. $100 will cover the cost of a battery for an electric scooter, for example.

We also Appreciate Equipment Donations!
You can also support Back in Use by donating durable medical equipment you no longer need. We get several hundred requests a week and your donation could be exactly what someone else is looking for. Adelante does clean and inspect donated equipment, but all items should be in good working condition so that it will benefit others.
Donations can be dropped off, or we can pick up larger items in the Albuquerque metro area.
