1.85 Million People Are In Need
In response to the devastation caused by Cyclone Idai, World Central Kitchen has activated #ChefsForMozambique to provide thousands of meals a day to support and empower the local community on its long road to recovery.
World Central Kitchen's Chef Relief Team arrived in Beira, Mozambique shortly after Cyclone Idai devastated the region. The team found a kitchen in an event banquet hall that could be cleaned, repaired, and used to cook. By mobilizing the local community, we were able to quickly get the kitchen up and running, delivering hundreds of meals on the first day. By day two, the team was serving thousands. As long as there is a need for people to eat, we will be there.
Chef-prepared, quality meals for the people of Mozambique will provide essential nourishment while also restoring hope. World Central Kitchen's unique approach comes from our chefs, who provide nutritious meals designed specifically for the affected region. We prepare community favorites with ingredients purchased from the local economy. Additionally, we work to uplift and empower the community to come back stronger after a disaster.
