GirlsBuild Summit 2023

The LA Promise Fund established GirlsBuild in 2014, to empower thousands of young women annually throughout LA and across the country to effect social change and become leaders in their communities.

LA Promise Fund will celebrate this year's GirlsBuild Summit with a film screening and a Day of Service on Monday, November 13th and Saturday, November 18th respectively.

GirlsBuild is a program that challenges young women, predominately from Black and Latinx ethnic backgrounds, from middle and high schools across LA County to make an impact in the community and ensure that their voices are heard. Sixty teams from across the region, and some nationally, have already been selected and will work year around to advance solutions to challenges they see in their schools and neighborhoods.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass Joins 2,000 Girls of Color at GirlsBuild Summit

On Monday, November 13th, the GirlsBuild Summit will kick off by bringing 2,000 young girls of color together at the Geffen Theatre in the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures for a screening of the film Barbie.

Together, we will explore the incredible stories of leadership and resilience, with special guest Mayor Bass, who will share her journey as the first female Mayor of Los Angeles on Monday, November 13th. Her message is simple - empowering the next generation to help end homelessness and lead with strength.

Additionally, we will be screening 'Barbie' followed by motivational speakers, including  who will focus on themes of female empowerment, leadership, and mental well-being. This day is destined to be a turning point for these young minds, and we would be honored to have you be a part of it.

Join Us for the GirlsBuild for Day of Service

On Saturday, November 18th, more than 500 volunteers will join our GirlsBuild students at East Los Angeles College South Gate Campus to  answer Mayor Bass' call by assembling 2,500 kits to help end homelessness.
