  • Your support today can help sick and injured pets to receive the medical care they need.
  • Your support today can help to spay and neuter community cats.

NENA'S STORY

Nena was a senior citizen found wandering abandoned and alone on the streets of Philadelphia. She got her second chance because she was brought to ACCT Philly and thanks to the generous support of people like you who made it possible for us to give her the care she desperately needed.

When we met Nena she was the very picture of neglect. She was under weight, her skin was irritated and red, she had pressure sores on her paws, thinning fur, dental fractures and was clearly in some pain.

Our medical team sent Nena to a local veterinary hospital where an x-ray and additional diagnostic tests confirmed that her stiff walk was due to arthritis. She was immediately put on medication to make her more comfortable.

Unfortunately, that was not the end of Nena's health issues. She became sick with an upper resperatory infection which made it difficult for her to breath and was found to have heartworm which would take months to treat.

Luckily, Nena caught the eye of one of our amazing foster families who opened their home to her for as long as it takes for her to get well. Nena is thriving in foster care and is in the process of being adopted by the foster's daughter!

Your gift today will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to a total of $50,000 and will help even more pets like Nena to get their second chance at a new and better life!
