Help Fix Kimbra's Broken Heart has raised $6,000 out of their goal of $6,000
ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN
Kimbra needs surgery to fix her heart and save her life.
Kimbra is a 1-year-old Chihuahua mix who has already had a tough start. When she ended up in a shelter with a grade 5/6 heart murmur, PawsCo stepped up to find her a foster home and give her the medical care she needs. After an examination by our trusted vet partner, we learned that Kimbra has a condition called Patent Ductus Arteriosis or PDA.
A PDA is a persistent communication between the pulmonary artery and the aorta. This ductus should close at birth so that blood flows through the heart and lungs efficiently and effectively. In patients with a PDA (a ductus that does not close) blood is allowed to re-visit the lungs and the left side of the heart without going to the body. This causes a volume and pressure overload of the left side of the heart. Left untreated, most will develop left-sided congestive heart failure within the first year.
You can help PawsCo raise $6,000 to cover the medical costs for Kimbra's diagnosis, surgery, and aftercare — and other animal care as needed.
