Kim Runs the Philadelphia Marathon has raised $389 out of their goal of $5,000
Why Kim is Running
"I was not born a "runner". While I was always into sports, you were more likely to find me on the soccer field than the track! One summer morning in 2006, all of that changed. For some reason (I am still not sure why), I decided to put on my sneakers and go for a jog. As I ran along the Hudson River, I watched the sun rise over the Manhattan skyline. It was beautiful. The feeling I had was simply indescribable. The air, the beauty, the freedom - I had never felt anything like it. Needless to say, I was hooked. Later that week, I signed up for the New York City Half Marathon. Multiple half-marathons, full- marathons, triathlons, a half-iron man, and an ultra-marathon later, I am still running.
Fast forward to several years ago. My oldest daughter was a student at Cynwyd Elementary School when we learned of Calliope Joy and her wonderful family. My daughter asked to raise money to promote awareness of Calliope Joy's condition. By selling necklaces, bracelets, and keychains, she did just that. My daughter was even given the opportunity to be a judge in Cal's Cupcake Challenge. We have gotten to know this wonderful family and have always kept them in our minds and hearts.
When we heard the heartbreaking news of Cal's passing, I decided to run the Philadelphia Marathon in Cal's memory. Please consider donating to this incredible cause."
