Neptune Needs Our Help

About the Campaign

Meet Neptune. He needs surgery to get a nasty mass removed from his leg so he can start the next chapter of his life.

He arrived at Austin Animal Center in mid-October as part of a cruelty case. We're so grateful for the kind human who reported the abuse, and for the Animal Services Officer who acted quickly and got him to safety. Even after all he went through, Neptune still loves every person he meets. In the shelter, Neptune quickly became a staff and volunteer favorite and is known for his short little legs, infectious smile, zest for toys, and zoomies!

When the shelter needed to close due to COVID-19, an awesome foster stepped up and took Neptune home. He quickly settled into a life of being loved and spoiled, enjoying walks, splashing in his baby pool, and playing with all the toys. But after a few weeks, his foster mom noticed a mass that had appeared on Neptune's back leg. It was pretty angry, red, and bleeding, which was definitely a concern. His foster mom took Neptune to the vet, and after a cytology they received the news that thankfully the mass is benign. However, if the mass is not removed, this sweet boy is a high risk for irritation and infection due to its location. Neptune will need a specialty surgery to remove the mass, lessen his chances for infection, and continue on his healing path towards his forever home. We're helping Neptune get the surgery he needs since the shelter's vet staff often can't take on speciality procedures like this.

Neptune's foster mom graciously paid for his consult fee, and we're asking for $2,500 to cover the specialty surgery and any after care Neptune may need. His foster has also committed to keeping him in her home until he finds his forever home. This boy - now adoringly nicknamed Toony - has been through so much, and deserves this chance to continue on his path to happiness and healing.
