Andrew Atwell and Nicholas Cocalis of Next Step Ministries, a non-profit organization that takes thousands of students on mission trips across the country, depart for Africa on February 14th to help bring focus to various organizations helping children in Uganda. A film crew is documenting the trip for a film series that will show this summer.
They will feature best-selling author Katie Davis, the 23-year-old director of Amazima Ministries and adoptive mother of 13, who feeds and cares for thousands of Uganda children. They will also feature organizations like Light Gives Heat, Fields of Life and SoleHope.
After meeting with these organizations, the group will attempt a grueling seven-day, fifty-mile climb up Africa’s tallest peak. Joining them on the trip is former LSU goalie, Mo Isom, mountaineer Ian Taylor, filmmaker Neil Rowe and enthusiastic volunteer Sam Hadju.
Over 7,000 students will watch the resulting film series during Next Step’s summer mission trips and thousands more will watch it online.
Next Step hopes that the film inspires students to commit their lives to serving others, while also raising awareness and funds for the featured organizations.
