People-Powered Challenge 2022

About the Campaign

Be part of a key moment in The Laundromat Project's future by helping us raise $50,000 in 10 days, from October 17-26.

Next year, will be a year of transformation with the elevated leadership of our current deputy and soon-to-be executive director, Ayesha Willams. It will also be our first full year of community programs rooted in Bed-Stuy, which will allow us to better support artists and neighbors working to address critical issues such as racial justice, environmental justice, and LGBTQIA+ safe spaces, to name only a few.

Harnessing this seminal moment, we will be hosting our 2022 People-Powered Challenge—a 10-day (Oct 17 -26) peer-to-peer campaign to raise $50k to support this first full year of programming in our new home. This will be an exciting moment where the community will come together to support initiatives like our Bed-Stuy Create and Connect Fund, a rooted Bed-Stuy Artists Residency, and a diverse range of community programs like our sidewalk workshops and public activations.

Here's how you can get involved:

  • Make a donation. Any amount helps!
  • Become a People Mover! Click on the "Be a People-Mover" button and commit to asking 15 people or more to give during the 10 day campaign. We'll give you all the materials you need to succeed.
  • Amplify the campaign by sharing it on social media. You can sign up to amplify here.

About the campaign: The People-Powered Challenge is The LP’s annual 10-day peer-to-peer campaign where we fundraise through the collective power of our friends, family, neighbors, and social networks to support artists and neighbors who are committed to societal change. This campaign strengthens our communities by getting supporters, new and old, to invest in our work with us.

About The LP:
The LP is a Black-rooted and POC-centered arts and social justice organization that advances artists and neighbors as change agents in their own communities throughout New York City. We make art and culture while fostering leadership through our celebrated Create Change Artist Residency and Fellowship program, the Creative Action Fund, and our Community Engagement Programs.

Together we know that we can reach our goal. Thank you for your support!

In community,

The LP Team
