About the Campaign
We are excited to announce the upcoming production of Primordial, a new verbatim documentary theatre play by playwright Lillian Isabella, at The Tank.
Directed by Meghan Finn, the Artistic Director at The Tank, Primordial explores the universal experience of pregnancy and giving birth, and paints an overwhelming picture of what it means to be pregnant & give birth in the USA.
About the Play
Inspired by Lillian's interviews with birthing people of varied races, ages, and genders, Primordial delves into the emotional and physical journey that birthing people go through, from the initial moment of conception to delivery. Through intimate and interwoven storylines, the audience bears witness to the gamut of human pain and joy.
Tightly weaving the narratives of many birthing people’s experiences into overlapping stories that amplify one another, the play deals directly with pregnancy, childbirth, trans-birthing people, patient advocacy, birth without violence, birth equity, and other related topics.
