About Shelter to Soldier
We're changing the game for veterans on the home front. They have sacrificed everything to protect our freedom, and its our turn to help them.
Paired with a mission to provide homeless dogs with a new purpose, Shelter to Soldier is dedicated to Saving Lives, Two at a Time by serving veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress (PTS), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and/or Military Sexual Trauma, among other injuries associated with traumatic service experiences.
Our mission is simple. We adopt dogs with an otherwise uncertain future and train them to become psychiatric service dogs for post-9/11 veterans suffering from invisible wounds, placing them at no charge to the veteran.
In addition to our psychiatric service dog training program, Shelter to Soldier places emotional support animals (ESAs) with active duty military personnel and veterans, and deploys the Shelter to Soldier Canine Ambassadors, a team of therapy dogs and their volunteer handlers, to provide visits of love and comfort to local military, veterans and their families.
Join our movement and get involved today by BECOMING A FUNDRAISER! Every dollar donated makes a direct impact in the lives of the shelter dogs and veterans served by Shelter to Soldier.
SAVING LIVES STARTS HERE
Your donation helps provide kibble, training treats and enrichment items to our 26 service dogs in training during their 12-18 month long training journey with us.
This support provides our service dog trainees with safe and spacious accommodations during their 12-18 service dog training program in our care. Beyond warmth and comfort, their housing includes around-the-clock animal care, grooming, veterinary care, food, supplements, medications, exercise, and more to give them the VIP treatment they deserve during their psychiatric service dog training program.
Our dogs are trained to an elite level for their new jobs as psychiatric service dog. Your support provides the training tools we need to prepare them in all environments to succeed and thrive with their future veteran handler.
As our impact has expanded to serve more veterans, so have our services. We now offer one-on-one counseling to applicants approved for our program, as well as a case manager to support them through the process. Your donation helps us continue to serve those who have given everything for us.
