Wishing you a bright & beautiful Spring!
Every day in the United States, more than 580,000 individuals are unhoused, with 19% experiencing chronic homelessness.
Mustard Seed Project is a volunteer-run, nonprofit organization composed entirely of college students and graduates who are dedicated to helping our unsheltered and low-income neighbors.
With six chapters and over 200 volunteers, we outreach to 300+ individuals a week. In 2021, our Service Navigation Program worked one-on-one with 56 individuals to build professional resumes, fill out applications, provide emergency grants, and file referrals to community resources such as financial, legal, and healthcare services.
This Spring, we are setting out to raise $3,000 in support of those individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

"I am a proud father taking care of my [two] kids. I have been going through a transition of housing since 2016 in San Diego, California. We have lived in a car as homeless for 2 years. We also lived with different [people] from the church I was going to. I am a professional chef, but at the moment I am not working because COVID-19 and I fell out of my job. My goal is to be an independent man that takes care of his kids in his own house -- I’d like to buy a home and have my own car and own house. It’s been a long journey, but I must stay strong because of my kids and myself.
I ran across [an MSP Volunteer Service Navigator] one day over at Majon Blvd. I was living in a hotel with my two kids and that’s when I ran across him right there near a Subway in front of a hotel. I asked him if he would help me out. [My service navigator] gave me moral support and told me that everything was going to be alright and that me and my kids were going to be just fine. And he stayed in contact with me [throughout]. It was awesome [working with my service navigator] and I would like to have a job like this, helping people like this. What was unique about working with [MSP and my service navigator] was that I felt his energy, that he really cared." -Darell
