The 2024 Spring Student Leadership Accelerator Program

About the Campaign

The Student Leadership Accelerator program is a philanthropic leadership academy for high school students that provides real-world professional experience and a toolkit of invaluable skills, including financial literacy, social entrepreneurship, marketing, and pitching to prepare them for a successful future. Through SLA, students can earn scholarships, grow their networks, and make a positive impact on their community.

Through the SLA Program, Students will meet 1:1 with CEOs, Business Leaders, build and lead teams of students and adults,
and prepare themselves for future professional careers.

The Student Leadership Accelerator program was designed as an opportunity to provide young student leaders with a jump start on developing themselves as young professionals while simultaneously giving back for a better tomorrow. As this generation of students will be our future leaders, it is our goal to develop prepared, confident, and empathetic individuals who can achieve anything they put their mind
to.

The Local Community Development Initiative

Here in California, we’re proud of our Local Community Development Initiative (LCDI), our program targeting low-income individuals that want to forge a path to a better life. This initiative, while complex, is simple in the fact that it involves us providing six months of rent payments and six months of all other living expense payments, including childcare, groceries, gas and bus payments, and more, so individuals can save all income generated during this period. Each individual in the LCDI program is required to meet with their AF Case Manager, AF Financial Advisor, and AF Career Consultant each week. From the beginning, these individuals meet with our AF Case Managers to establish their six month plan, financial goals, career goals, and overall life goals. Therefore, while being provided assistance, these individuals can be led down a steady path to get on their own feet. We believe working towards personalized goals with steady check-ins is the most effective way to see change and ensure adherence to a plan.

We believe helping people get on their own feet and be self sufficient is the key to solving the systemic problem.

Michael Culver is a candidate in our Local Community Development Initiative program. Before this program, Michael was living out of his truck for a decade at the Thousand Oaks Library and was unable to keep a stable job. After 3 months in the LCDI program, Michael no longer lives in his truck and has a stable living environment in a house. He recently received a promotion at his current position at Geek Squad, he received a CompTIA A+ certification, and he was able to purchase a new & more reliable car for work transporation.

We are so proud of Michael and all of accomplishments over the past 3 months and we are so excited to see his growth in the last 3 months of the program!

The Amalfi Primary School

Through our generous donors and our current fundraising initiatives, we’re proud to be working with our partners in the region to construct the Amalfi Primary School and plan to break ground in Winter of 2024. After the school is constructed, our team is working with these partner organizations to hire local teachers and administrative staff.

We’re also proud to be establishing a 10-year plan to ensure the school and its students stay properly funded for the next decade.
