Stop LNG Export on the Delaware River has raised $5,295 out of their goal of $10,000
We need your help to fight this project
The Delaware Riverkeeper Network has been engrossed in a contentious battle over the rushed approval that agencies have granted to the proposed massive liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal in Gibbstown, NJ.
This project would involve the transport of hazardous and potentially explosive LNG from northcentral PA to southern NJ, passing through hundreds of communities for at least 200 miles, then tobe directly piped into ships for export down the Delaware River for sale overseas. If approved, it would have harmful, long-lasting, and far-reaching effects communities across the Watershed and states, including:
Delaware Riverkeeper Network's Latest Response
With the Biden Administration now in office, the Delaware Riverkeeper Network will be submitting a letter to President Biden calling for a stop to all liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports in the United States. Our goal is for the Biden Administration to adopt a policy that will stop LNG exports in order to protect the public’s health and safety, to protect minority and low-income communities who are already bearing the burdens of environmental injustices, to protect the environment and the natural world, to fight climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions by replacing fossil fuels with truly clean carbon-free renewable energy sources, and to provide a stable, economically viable green and ethical economy. We are sharing a petition for individuals to sign reflecting the letter with national perspective, grounded in on-the-ground struggle against LNG projects across the nation.

The Delaware Riverkeeper Network legally challenged the Delaware River Basin Commission’s (DRBC) 2019 approval of the Gibbstown liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal on the Delaware River, Gloucester County, NJ at a hearing that lasted 8 days in May.
The hearing was the result of a successful DRN legal challenge over DRBC's failure to provide the public with information about the full scope of the project's impacts, including detailed plans over the facility's LNG operations. Throughout the hearing, we've uncovered new information that the DRBC did not conduct extensive enough reviews, nor did they have enough information to accurately assess impacts from dredging, including the potential for toxic contaminants from the site to leach into groundwater.
The DRBC hearing concluded on May 20, but our fight against this dangerous project is far from over. Making the strongest cases for our River and our environment requires experienced legal counsel and expert testimony, which comes at great cost. Please give as generously as you can afford. Every dollar donated does make a difference in the amount of work we are able to take on to fight this bad project.
