Stough Elementary- Schools Helping Schools

About the Campaign

Your donation partnership will impact lives for generations to come!

What is Schools Helping Schools?

Schools Helping Schools (SHS) is a unique one and half week program designed to partner schools in the United States with schools in the developing world to teach students about global awareness and the importance of education as well as to raise funds for education both locally and internationally.

Where is my donation going?

When you support a student at Stough Elementary School and give to S.H.S., your donation goes to your student's school and the partner school, Uhuru Academy, in Kenya. The money going to the partner Kenyan school will go directly toward sponsoring children in need to attend Uhuru Academy. This is a free program for your school, so the only cost taken out of a donation is to run the actual program. We estimate that $0.03 of every dollar will go toward running the program.

More information about your partner school, Uhuru Academy, in Kenya:

Uhuru Academy is a Secondary School in Kenya that provides education for children living in extreme poverty. The majority of students are from resettlement villages in the Great Rift Valley. Living on less than $0.30 per day, most of their families live in tents or mud huts and struggle to feed their children consistently. Many Uhuru Academy students survived tribal warfare, fled their homes for safety and now live with limited access to food, water and education.

But there is hope! Providing education for these students empowers them to obtain quality jobs, thus restoring dignity and providing an opportunity that otherwise would not exist. This model enables students to break the vicious cycle of generational poverty.

Your partnership with Schools Helping Schools allows Uhuru Child to give students an education who cannot afford it. Uhuru Academy, students receive books, food, housing, an education focused on critical thinking as well as gaining skills like speaking French and using a computer. More importantly, an education empowers young women to excel in the future and overcome the obstacles of poverty, meaning your contribution and partnership has a lasting impact on young lives.
