 The Challenge

In October 2023, Joey was diagnosed with Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma - a rare and aggressive form of bile duct cancer. Time is of the essence: despite undergoing 8 rounds of chemotherapy, 14 rounds of immunotherapy, and 2 sets of high-dose radiation, the cancer continues to spread rapidly. 

Each day counts in this battle, which is why Joey and his family are urgently seeking alternative treatments in Mexico as their next hope. This type of cancer is known for its aggressive nature - it spreads fast and requires immediate action. Most patients receive their diagnosis after the cancer has already spread beyond the bile ducts, making every moment in the treatment journey critical.

 The Family Behind the Fight
Joey and his wife Joy have built a beautiful life in Las Vegas with their three children:
— Joe (16): A determined high school junior
— Kolby (14): A freshman finding his way
— Kalea (7): Their spirited second-grader

And completing their loving home are their two loyal dogs, who provide comfort and unconditional love during this challenging journey.

As a Union Land Surveyor and with Joy working as a Registered Nurse, they've always been self-sufficient. But cancer doesn't just drain energy - it drains savings.

In just the past year, Joy and I have paid over $50,000 out of pocket in travel expenses alone - money that came straight from our family's savings and everyday budget. 

The challenges ahead include:
— Regular treatments continuing in Las Vegas

— None of these expenses covered by insurance
