Support KIPP Model UN Team's Conference in New York City has raised $57,942 out of their goal of $60,000
Every child deserves the chance to share their voice and create positive change.
Our Model U.N. program cultivates the leadership, critical thinking, and advocacy skills of youth student leaders from Chicago's West and South sides. We firmly believe in emphasizing student voices to create positive change in our local and global communities. Model U.N. provides our students with both the platform and essential diplomacy skills to share their voices and perspectives on issues important to them.
Last year, we had the opportunity to send 34 students to the International Model U.N. Conference in New York City—the only delegation from Chicago. Our students proudly represented our city, sharing fresh perspectives and learning from others, and two students were recognized with awards for their contributions.

This year, we're eager to send all four KIPP Chicago teams back to the Global Classroom International Model United Nations Middle School Conference in New York City in April 2024. During this event, our students will engage in diplomatic debates with over 1,500 students from across the globe while also getting a chance to present at the iconic United Nations Headquarters.
Join us in providing these future leaders with a transformational and unforgettable opportunity!

About Model U.N.
At KIPP Chicago Public Schools, our mission is to empower students with the character and academic skills needed to persist through college, pursue their passions, and lead toward a more just Chicago. With this in mind, 14 students and their teachers at KIPP Academy Chicago founded the first Model United Nations team in 2018. Since then, our program has grown to four KIPP Chicago middle school campuses with over 60 students involved.
In weekly meetings, students present current events, engage in debates that analyze an issue from multiple perspectives and collaborate with their partners to develop solutions to complex world problems. Throughout the year, students engage in local conferences at top Chicago high schools to compete and learn from their peers. They also meet with local leaders, like Mayor Brandon Johnson and Former Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, to share their ideas on how to improve our city.
