Sr Software Development Engineer in Test (Platform)

Classy's Product Technology team is hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to play a key role in designing, developing and extending the automation test framework that supports the automation and manual test teams.  The Senior SDET will also contribute to the expansion of the Classy Quality Dashboard where defects, sprint, release and build metrics all live and can be accessed by the entire organization.  If you are a team player that loves technology and has experience building, maintaining and expanding the capabilities of a test framework and quality eco-system that increases quality while reducing the time-to-market then we would love to hear from you.

What you’ll accomplish:

  • Participate on a scrum team that will expand the automation framework to provide additional development capabilities - must be able to write backend and frontend code
  • Analyze existing test systems and identify areas for improvement
  • Work closely with software developers and test engineers to understand software workflows, use cases, and specifications in creating automated scripts across the Classy platform
  • Collaborate with the Lead Automation Engineer to create patterns to design, develop, and document automated test scripts to ensure the quality of our products 
  • Work closely with the Test Engineering team to ensure script implementation complies with best practices and testability requirements
  • Work independently and as a member of the automation team developing and maintaining automation scripts
  • Develop and verify automation test scripts, to build a system to support automation of unit, functional, performance, security, and integration testing
  • Translate existing manual tests and defects into automated scripts
  • Identify, analyze, and document software defects detected by automation scripts
  • Involved in all aspects of the test framework development that supports the functional teams automation engineers
  • Work with systems leads and peers on system designs, requirements development, and process implementation for the Salesforce integration
  • Participate in continual product improvement efforts and work with team members to implement best practices and procedures that reduce the time to market while increasing quality
  • Work with limited supervision, and take ownership of testing projects to achieve schedule, financial, and technical goals as assigned
  • Mentor other team members and share your subject matter expertise across teams
  • Collaborate with the Global Teams across multiple time zones and disciplines including: Developers, Test Engineers, Product management, Design, Sales and marketing, and Customer care

What you bring (Required):

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in software automation test development with at least 5 years of experience specifically with object-oriented frameworks
  • Expert with hands-on experience in automation framework design, architecture, and process implementation 
  • Excellent skills in analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex issues in automated script development 
  • Highly effective at learning new technologies and actively introducing advanced process improvements and test technologies 
  • Effective at understanding and communicating technical information; ability to translate to and from business language 
  • Strong ability to prioritize and meet multiple project deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong hands-on experience with scripting in Karate, Robot Automation Framework, Selenium, and other test automation tools
  • Strong hands-on experience with coding/scripting in Golang, Java, JavaScript, Python, and other programming languages
  • Strong knowledge of Action Driven, Keyword Driven, Data-Driven testing approaches, and other latest methodologies in software testing
  • Strong knowledge of automation development processes, methodologies, and complete software development lifecycles
  • Strong hands-on experience with automated testing within the build pipelines
  • Some DevOps Experience (Plus for Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Strong hands-on experience with GIT
  • Strong hands-on experience working with a SaaS Platform running on AWS
  • Strong hands-on experience investigating and reporting issues based on findings from logs and various AWS services
  • Good knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies in software development
  • Strong communication skills written and verbal
  • Highly communicative team player with high level of customer empathy 
  • Flexible and able to work in a dynamic team-oriented environment

What would be awesome to have (preferred):

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or an engineering discipline
  • Good experience with development and testing using Performance testing tools
  • Good experience with microservices development and testing
  • Experience with API tools like Postman
  • Nonprofit or online fundraising experience
