SEA Blue is special to many people in many ways – from runners pushing to shave seconds off their time while racing to the finish line… to walkers waving a team flag to show their support of a friend or family member, or to honor a loved one who’s lost his battle. And while we recognize there’s still much to do to address the unmet needs of the prostate cancer community, SEA Blue also recognizes and celebrates the advancements in treatment options and those who were diagnosed with prostate cancer and are surviving and thriving!
Each September, close to 1,500 participants gather in beautiful Lincoln Park to participate in the SEA Blue walk and run. This year SEA Blue will be held in Lincoln Park on September 11th. In recognition of 9/11, we’ll be honoring first responders. These include men battling prostate cancer who are not only warriors, but guardians for the next generation… and the younger men in their families who face a higher risk of developing prostate cancer. We’ll also be recognizing Chicagoland first responders at the event by honoring fire fighters, members of the police force and EMTs. SEA Blue 9/11 activities will include a special flag ceremony, exclusive T-shirts, and on-stage recognition of prostate cancer guardians and first responders.
It’s going to be an extra-special event and we certainly couldn’t do it without all of you! Thank you for your ongoing support for SEA Blue over the years and your commitment to making this year a success. Working together, we can make this year’s SEA Blue event on September 11th bigger and better than ever! Please join us for a day of family fun, positivity, and empowerment. Register for the event, build your team (or join an existing team), and invite your friends to donate to help Us TOO help those who are battling prostate cancer.
The event will be emceed by WGN anchor and prostate cancer survivor Steve Sanders, and will feature a special appearance by baseball legend and prostate cancer survivor Ken Griffey Sr.
