City of Hope’s goal for 2016 was to expand the success of their peer-to-peer fundraising program. To this end, they continued to segment and personalize their audience and dedicated themselves to effective fundraising coaching methods, such as evaluating previous efforts, providing timely coaching, and redoubling efforts on “concierge style service” for supporters with a special connection to their institution.

Key levers that contributed to their growth over the course of the year were their focus on individual giving as well as a culture shift within their Office of Philanthropy that broke down silos and encouraged collaboration. They also believe that having the right people on your team is imperative. A recent addition to their team helped improve their fundraising coaching, messaging quality, and overall effectiveness.

Consistent communications as well as playing “the long game” produced results for City of Hope. They trust the multi-year strategy they have in place, along with patience and persistence, are what help them continue to grow.
