Eligibility

In order to be eligible to participate in the Classy Awards Program you must:

  1. Be a Social Impact Organization based in the United States or Canada, although your Programs may be implemented anywhere.
  2. The submitted Programs must have at least one year of measurable results.
  3. Have a representative that is 18 years of age or older.
  4. Completely fill out and submit an Org Profile.
  5. Org Profile must be completed in English.
  6. Comply with all rules, restrictions, and processes laid out in these Official Rules.

Process

  1. Application Period. Interested Social Impact Organizations must submit a completed Org Profile between January 6th 2016 and February 29th 2016 by visiting the following URL: https://www.classy.org/collaborative
  2. Program Section. Each Social Impact Organization that begins an Org Profile must complete 100% of the required inputs within the Organization Overview and Program Section for each Program it wants to be eligible to compete for a Classy Award; organizations may provide information for up to five different Programs in the Program Section. Each completely filled out Program will count as a submission for a Classy Award. It is possible for one organization to have more than one Program included in the Top 100 Programs as Classy Awards Finalists. It is also possible for one organization to have multiple Programs win Classy Awards.
  3. Classy Awards Finalists. All organizations that complete an Org Profile within the allotted time frame ( "Nominees" ) will move on to the first full round of judging, during which each Program will be given a numerical score by the Classy Awards Committee based on the judging criteria included below. The 100 Programs with the highest scores will be announced as the Classy Awards Finalists on April 19, 2016.
  4. Classy Awards Winners. The Leadership Council will, without reference to the earlier scores determined by the Classy Awards Committee, score the Classy Awards Finalists based on the judging criteria included below to determine the 10 Classy Awards winners. The finalists with the top ten aggregate numerical scores, as judged by the Leadership Council, will be the winners. The Classy Awards Winners will be announced at the Classy Awards on June 16th, 2016.

Judging

  1. Judging Criteria. Members of the Leadership Council or the Classy Awards Committee (as specified above) will judge Nominees based on the following factors.
    1. Scale, scope and leadership expertise of the problem being addressed
      1. What is the scale of the problem?
      2. What is the significance of the change the organization is seeking to make?
      3. What level of expertise does the Nominee exhibit in its knowledge of the problem, its trending behaviors and contributing factors?
    2. Innovative solution
      1. How creative is the solution?
      2. To what extent is the solution differentiated from traditional approaches to this problem?
      3. Are there any unique activities, technologies, or collaborations that drive this approach?
    3. Ability to solve the problem
      1. Is there a clearly defined strategy and future roadmap?
      2. Is there a model set up for long-term success? Has the organization established a strong foundation for future growth?
      3. Has the organization illustrated, through performance metrics and previous measurable results, that it is capable of eradicating the problem?
    4. Organizational effectiveness and resource management
      1. Are the organization's goals in line with available resources?
      2. Does the organization have organizational strengths that stand out (e.g. strong mechanisms for continuous learning, leadership recognized for expertise or innovation, partnerships that further leverage the organization's resources, etc.)?
  2. Ties. During each round, numerical scores will be awarded based on the above judging criteria. In the event that two or more Programs are tied on numerical score and the tie needs to be resolved in order to determine who will become either a Classy Awards Finalist, or a Classy Awards Winner (as applicable), the tie will be resolved by a discussion period and subsequent vote held by (i) the Classy Awards Committee for judging rounds it mediates and (ii) the Leadership Council for judging rounds it mediates. In the event of a persisting tie, continued rounds of discussion and subsequent votes will be held until the tie is broken.
  3. Conflicts of Interest. All judges participating in the 6th Annual Classy Awards Program, whether members of the Classy Awards Committee or the Leadership Council will be screened from (i) judging any Social Impact Organizations they are employed by or affiliated with, or (ii) judging any Social Impact Organizations that they identify being unable to objectively evaluate according to the designated judging criteria.
