Fall is actually the most important season for gardeners. It’s a time for focusing on reviewing our successes and challenges, revising garden plans, preparing the soil for the following season and even sowing seeds for early spring crops! Certain crops, such as greens, herbs and garlic bulbs are planted in fall, which allows you to get a jump on spring harvest. This hands-on workshop in DUG's demonstration garden will provide participants with specific techniques for fall planting, soil improvement (including cover cropping), weed control, and pest management that can lead to a deeply rooted garden in the springtime. DUG’s first garlic bulb sale will immediately follow the workshop to help participants get their garlic gardens started!
