On July 16, 1945, the first atomic bomb was tested in New Mexico - marking the beginning of the nuclear age. Eight decades later, as the United States prepares to spend over $1.7 trillion on nucelar weapons modernization and global arms agreements hang in the balance, the questions remain: What have we learned since that day? What have we forgotten and why does it matter?
Join Global Santa Fe and the New Mexico Military Museum for a community conversation featuring Christopher Preble, Senior Fellow at the Stimson Center and co-auhtor of Gambling on Armageddon. Preble will examine the U.S. nuclear logic driving modernization, and how we might chart a more secure path forward.
