Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary
Run for the Animals 2022
About the Campaign
ONLINE REGISTRATION HAS CLOSED. YOU CAN STILL REGISTER AT PACKET PICKUP AT RnJ SPORTS IN ROCKVILLE ON SATURDAY BETWEEN 10:00-2:00, OR BEFORE THE RACE STARTING AT 7:00 A.M.
Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary will be holding its 19th Annual 5K Run for the Animals and 1-Mile Fun Walk on Sunday, May 15, 2022. All funds raised will go towards the lifesaving work Poplar Spring does every day. The funds will care and feed the farm animals that live at Poplar Spring, as well as educate the public about compassion towards all animals.
RACE OPTIONS
We are happy to announce that the Run for the Animals will be held in-person. We are also offering the option of a virtual race. What this means is that if you would prefer to complete a 5K run or a walk on your own, you can do so anytime during the week of May 15th.
SUPPORTING THE SANCTUARY
This is the only event Poplar Spring has at this time of the year, and the funds that are raised are vital to continuing to help feed and care for all the rescued animals. Most of the animals at the sanctuary have come from situations of extreme cruelty and have taught us what it means to endure and to be forgiving. We are extremely grateful for your participation, and of any fundraising you are motivated to do. We will be awarding great, vegan prizes to the top fundraisers.
MATCHING DONATIONS
Poplar Spring will be given $14,000 in matching donations. DOUBLING your donation! Please share this page with your family and friends. Your involvement is critical to Poplar Spring’s success. Thank you for all your help.
PRE-RACE WARM-UP
There will be a pre-race warm-up by Courage Karate for all the runner’s and walkers! Be sure to participate and get pumped for the 5k or 1 mile walk.
PACKET PICKUP
Packet Pick-up will be held on Saturday, May 14 from 10:00 - 2:00 at RnJ Sports, 11910 Parklawn Drive Rockville, MD 20854.
We will have some great goodie bag items, where you can choose the items you would like for your goodie bag.
Packet Pick-up is also held on race day, Sunday, May 15, at Wheaton Regional Park from 7:00 a.m. until the start of the race at 8:30 a.m.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
We will be collecting used sneakers at the race, which will be donated to GotSneakers, who recycles and reuses them.
After the race there will be a book signing of the new children’s book “Come Visit the Animal Sanctuary.” The story takes you on a tour of Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary, describing how amazing the animals are, and in a non-disturbing way educates the reader on how most farm animals are treated.
We're fundraising for the cause to make a difference!
You can help fundraise for the cause once you register. Or just make a donation.
The run will be held at beautiful Wheaton Regional Park, with part of the course taking the runners through Brookside Gardens. The majority of the run and walk is on paved trails, with the remainder of the course on hard packed trails. The run takes you through the scenic park, with most of the course being in the shade. The run begins at 8:30 a.m. The Fun Walk begins at 8:40 a.m. Although dogs cannot participate in the run, they are more than welcome to come out and join the 1 mile walk.
