About the Event
Join us for a screening of The Cost of Inheritance with Black Gotham Experience at The LP Storefront! The film explores the history of systemic inequities in the United States and the current pursuit of reparations for African Americans.
This screening is part of the Council 400 series, which commemorates the African Diaspora’s impact on the territory of New York City from 1624 to 2024. Council 400 participants gather from October 9 to November 30 to investigate the 400 years of Black presence in NYC. The activities in the series are anchored by programming curated by the Black Gotham Experience with partner organizations, including a group exhibition, talks, wellness workshops, film screenings, and walks through Manhattan and Brooklyn. The activities engage participants to embody centuries of memories made obscure.
Refreshments will be provided.
