Title: Traumatic Brain Injury & Substance Abuse Co-Morbidity
Date: Tuesday, March 14, 2017
Time: 9:00am – 1:00pm
Presenter: Frank Sparadeo, PhD
Dr. Sparadeo is currently in private practice in W. Warwick, RI. His practice focuses on evaluation and treatment of individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury with a specialty in co-occurring disorders such as chronic pain and/or substance abuse. Dr. Sparadeo is also the Clinical Program Development Director for the Center for Community Independence, a TBI program in Revere, MA.
Alcohol use and intoxication have long been documented as risk factors for TBI. Studies exploring potential risk factor for post injury alcohol abuse document that pre-injury problematic alcohol use is highly predictive of post-injury heavy alcohol use and related problems. Clinicians treating TBI should understand the implications of alcohol/drug use in the TBI survivor and the treatment of TBI should include substance use/abuse treatment or prevention.
Cost: $25 registration fee.
Registration: Limited to 50 attendees.
