Rocking the Boat is kicking off its 20th year with a fundraiser, hosted by Wendy Weinberg Beaudin. Join us for cocktails, wine, micro brews compliments of Bronx Brewery, appetizers from local restaurants, and dancing to live music led by Paul Beaudin — We’re not called ROCKING the Boat for nothing!
Get a taste of the Bronx
Local restaurants will be donating small bites representing the gamut of Bronx cultures—Mexican, Columbian, Asian, American, and Italian to name a few. We are also pleased to welcome our neighborhood brewer, Bronx Brewery, who will be on site serving a selection of their seasonal craft beers!
Get your jam on!
With Harlem House Band, featuring bandleader, bass guitarist, and sailmaker(!) Paul Beaudin. Joining him on stage will be Grammy Award winning drummer, Ricky Shutter along with Hendrik Helmer on the guitar and vocals, keyboardist and vocalist, Mark Mancini and the man with the mojo, Jake Bialos. Also jamming with the band on harmonica will be Rocking the Boat’s very own, Adam Green. Stay tuned for news of other bands and special guest artists joining the lineup!
Celebrate 20 years of Rocking the Boat
Rocking the Boat began in 1998 with one inspired volunteer, some open minded junior high school students, an 8-foot wooden dinghy and an East Harlem school’s basement pool. 20 years later, that volunteer project has become a $2.7 million, multidimensional organization where students not only learn how to build boats, but to row, sail, and care for the environment, as well as share their passion with others while receiving help and guidance through a comprehensive social work program. Rocking the Boat students graduate from high school at rates that far outpace their peers and enter college prepared to succeed. Kids don’t just build boats at Rocking the Boat, boats build kids!
