Ghana is a source, transit, and destination country for children and women trafficked for the purposes of forced labor and commercial sexual exploitation. It is estimated that over 242,000 young people are engaged in forced labor in Ghana and more than 20,000 are enslaved in the fishing industry on Lake Volta, the world's largest manmade lake.
The GWU Rescue Project
Individual investigations will take place based on reports received from parents, community members, and other children. A rescue mission will be performed to remove enslaved children who are being forced to work on Lake Volta. Your investment will fund the rescue of two of these children, who will be brought directly to the CH Rehabilitation Shelter for evaluation and treatment.
100% of proceeds benefit Challenging Heights, an organization promoting children’s rights to education and freedom from forced labor in Ghana. For more information, please visit challengingheights.org.
