The Michelle Petruzzi Memorial Fund: Dedicated to Supporting the Spirit of Volunteering
2017 Update: We raised over $20,000 last year. We've decide to dedicate this fund to supporting the spirit of volunteering, which Michelle embodied not only at App Camp For Girls, but also with her work at several other organizations. (We will be posting remembrances of Michelle as a volunteer and how she inspired us on this page, as we rededicate the fund for 2017.)
Thanks again to Mapbox for providing a generous donation to kick off this year's fundraising, which brings our overall total to $25,000. We hope to bring the 2017 total to $30,000, in support of our volunteers to whom Michelle was so dedicated.
Michelle Petruzzi was passionate about supporting girls' interest in science and technology. She worked tirelessly as both a volunteer and the operations manager for App Camp For Girls, helping shape this incredible program that mentors girls in the critical phase of life when they often decide whether careers in science and technology are for them. Michelle loved seeing girls empowered by their experiences building iPhone apps in one week.
Michelle passed away after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer on April 29, 2016. This fund was started by Michelle and Justin's friends at Mapbox to honor Michelle and continue her important work at App Camp For Girls.
