My dear Bagginses and Boffins, Tooks and Brandybucks, Grubbs, Chubbs, Hornblowers, Bolgers, Bracegirdles and Proudfoots! Today is some point in time in late September, and in fact, not my birthday.

It is thirty-three days until NaNoWriMo. Alas, thirty-three days is far too short a time to prepare for what will inevitably be the craziest month of my life. I don't write half as well as I think I should write, and I write less than half of my characters half as well as they deserve.

Last November, I wrote 150 thousand words, finishing one novel and carrying on into another, and some 48k the last day to make that goal. Last November, I wrote 1800 words in a 15 minute word war. Last November, I beat the pants off of all my previous NaNoWriMo records.

As an over-achiever, this year I will have to inevitably do it again. However, I've got a new goal up my NaNoWriMo pants (...skirt?). I want to go to the Night of Writing Dangerously. You see, speed writing is one of my few talents. This is the pinnacle of word wars, the Penultimate Word War.

I've got to do it.

IIn order to attend, I must raise at least 250 dollars for NaNoWriMo (not to mention hop on a plane to San Francisco!), and jaunt off to the Julia Morgan Ballroom on November 20th. Money raised will go to NaNoWriMo's creative outreach in schools and communities across the world.

This November, I'll be writing another novel. Along with thousands of other writers, who will write novels again, novels for the first time, and as a group, create over a million words of literary abandon. NaNoWriMo does inspiration like no other.

Help me in my novel-writing quest by donating, and support a more creative world where everyone has a novel in them, and no one has to get it surgically removed. (That's a common OH+S issue with non-novellers these days, you know.)

PS: I promise that if you donate, this Kritical Kraken will absolutely not come and nom upon your plot bunnies in November.

Donator Goodies: (Any high donation will gain you all of the lower donation incentives. Donations may be stacked, so if you donated $5 and decide you want more, donating $10 will get you the $15 award.)

$1: You gain immunity to attacks from the Kritical Kraken. Plus, I will personally email you to tell you how incredible and amazing you are.
$5: I will write a haiku about how awesome you are and Tweet it. (If you are not on Twitter, this can also be applied to a post on your Facebook wall or DeviantArt page!)
$10: I will name something or someone after you in my NaNoWriMo novel.
$15: I will mail you your very own Plot In A Bottle cell phone charm or necklace (you specify! See pictures. I am Canadian but yes, I will ship anywhere in the world.).
$20: I will insert a cameo of one of your characters in my novel. You will get at least one paragraph of literary wonder instead of a mere namedrop. Since I strictly write speculative fiction, do not fear out-of-place characters... I will make it work! Anything can happen, it's MAGIC!
$25: Not only will you get your very own Plot in a Bottle and a cameo appearance, but I will make you a novel-signature for your NaNoWriMo profile. (Or a dandy icon for any forum if you don't need some novel-pimping goodness.)
$50: I will paint you a custom book cover, using my mad digital painting skills. Ordinarily commissioning me for a book cover would cost signifigantly more, but for you, Oh Glorious Donator, you can have a print-sized, semi-professional looking book cover on the cheap! If you are not a novellist (you crazy fool), I will paint any you any other thing you so desire, within reason, of course.

As cameo requests will not be done until possibly the very last day of November, I will email out exerpts containing cameos in early December.

Thank you for supporting creativity.

Still here? Here's the cover I designed for my 2010 NaNoWriMo novel.
