Dear Friends, Family, and Righteous Supporters,

This November, I'm writing a novel. An entire novel, started from scratch a few months ago, and completed in just one month by Thanksgiving weekend, as part of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo).

And you thought nothing interesting ever happened in November.  Most of you are used to my doing this crazy stunt by now and are AMAZINGLY supportive.  In fact, I never thought I would have so many supportive people in my writing life - you are all amazing.

NaNoWriMo is free to participate, but not a cost-free venture.   This type of creativity inspiration requires servers, computers, an office and a small staff year round to keep the words rolling.  So, I am also raising money to help the nonprofit that runs it build these amazing communities in classrooms, coffee shops, libraries, and living rooms all over the world and help the inspiration flow for me and thousands of my fellow novelists.  The nonprofit is The Office of Letters and Light and has done an incredible job of introducing people - men, women, children and a few imaginary creatures - to their dream of creating (or being in) stories.

Every dollar I raise to help this cause will keep my spirits high as I write my way towards the realization of my creative goals. More importantly, your contribution will help The Office of Letters and Light build a more engaged and inspiring world.  The money raised this month will help with the following:

* Keeping the website that connects us all online through servers, software programers and connectivity.

* Helping teachers reach future novelists in their classrooms by creating nifty Young Writers Program Kits and mailing them free of charge.

* Supporting local businesses and libraries through encouraging write-ins.  (Yes, this includes Starbucks and Barnes & Nobels around the country.  But remember - it doesn't matter how large the corporation is, a brick and motar store hires employees locally.  Writers sitting at a Starbucks or B&N driking coffee and eating pastries helps that local community as well.)  And your local writers are not such shut ins that way.

* Continuing other writing programs such as ScriptFrenzy (April) and NaNo Camp (summertime).

* Bringing new and exciting stories to readers like you!  (Potentially, anyway.)

Oh, and once again, I will put my money where my mouth is and donate on my own behalf.  My goal is to raise at least $250, but boy would I love to raise more.  Yes, the money you donate will be tax deductible.  Yes the money you donate will help with literacy in this country.  And yes, if I am one day published I will DEFINTELY sign a book for you because most likely I will have started the book because of your support.  Please also feel free to pass this plea along to your friends and family who might be interested in inspiring generations of future writers.

Thank you so much for your support of my writing! I'll be posting updates on my novel and fundraising on my blog, http://www.liadona.com, throughout November.
