Dear Friends, Family, and Righteous Supporters,

This November, I'm writing a novel. An entire novel, started from scratch, and completed in just one month, as part of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo).

I started participating in National Novel Writing Month back in 2007. Back then, it was just a fun program. I stumbled across it randomly one October, just in time to whip up a profile and an outline what would eventually come the book that I self-published mere days ago. Now, in 2012, I'm celebrating my fifth year participating, and my second year as a Municipal Liaison (i.e. local representative for NaNoWriMo) in the Chicagoland area.

NaNoWriMo means a great deal to me. It's something I've stuck with all these years, that's given me inspiration, laughter, and even a few tears, and, most importantly, a community. And it means a great deal to a huge number of other people as well. NaNoWriMo's parent is a non-profit organization called The Office of Letters and Light. This organization sponsors programs across the country and around the world for young writers, providing materials to teachers and students and encouraging a love of reading and writing, and building communities around local libraries, where writers are encouraged to Come Write In.

NaNoWriMo is free - free for the teachers that want to bring the love of writing to their classrooms; free for the groups of us huddled among shelves of books, quietly typing away. And as a thank you for the years I've enjoyed being part of this amazing community, I'm raising money to help the nonprofit that runs NaNoWriMo to continue to build communities in classrooms, coffee shops, libraries, and living rooms all over the world and help the inspiration flow for me and thousands of my fellow novelists.

Every dollar I raise will keep my spirits high as I write my way towards the realization of my creative goals. More importantly, your contribution will help The Office of Letters and Light build a more engaged and inspiring world.

Thank you so much for your support! I'll be posting updates on my novel and fundraising on my sponsorship page throughout the month.
