Obviously my NanNoWriMo goal became unimportant at that point.Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters,

On November 17, the Office of Letters and Light will be bringing together a bunch of crazy people to write novels for National Novel Writing Month's Night of Writing Dangerously.  The write-a-thon will take place at the Julia Morgan Ballroom in downtown San Francisco. With your help, I will be sitting in one of the empty seats shown in the photo below, writing and most importantly raising money for the Office of Letters and Light, NaNoWriMo's parent nonprofit.

To be honest, it will be hot, crowded, and kind of smelly.  What?  Writers are a sweaty people.  Last year I also had a migraine the entire evening.  Now that my migraines are under control I'm looking forward to a pain free evening of writing in that hot crowded room of sweaty stinky writiers.  It's going to be awesome.

Now, see that black cat up there in the picture?  That is my boy Spot.  He became ill just after Thanksgiving last year.  Obviously my NaNoWriMo goal became unimportant then.  Spot died on November 30th that year due to complications with his liver and surgery.  This year I'd like the money I raise for OLL to be in  memory of Spot,  because I miss him.

More important than all of these things, and the reason I started donating to NanoWriMo and raised money for Night of Writing Dangerously this year and last year, is because it helps bring the programs back every year.  Encourgaing people to tell stories is important, at every age.

Attendees must raise $250 to get in the door.  There are also prizes and food for those that attend.  This is about children and adults getting the encouragement, and inspiration to achieve their creative potential. Proceeds from the event will fund National Novel Writing Month's free creative writing programs in hundreds of schools and communities around the world.  The Office of Letters and Light does inspiration like nobody else (did I mention I'm writing an entire novel this November?). And on their behalf, I am asking you to donate.

Thank you for supporting me in my novel-writing, and for helping the Office of Letters and Light create a more engaged and inspiring world.
