Welcome to the fundraising page in honor of Duders!!!

I have chosen to make a difference for people with Down syndrome and I hope you will support me as I raise money for the National Down Syndrome Society in honor of Zack.

One of the first things our family read regarding Down Syndrome after Zack’s birth and diagnosis in Aug. 2010 was “Welcome to Holland.”

It speaks of preparing for a new baby like a trip to Italy — learning the language, looking forward to Rome and all of the Italian highlights and adventures that await, only to have your plane land in Holland, a foreign land in which you did not want to arrive and whose language you don’t speak.

Through the support of friends and family and most definitely the National Down Syndrome Society, Scott, Wendy, Zachary and Addison have adjusted so, so well to this world we never thought we’d be in. But here we are, loving the life that an extra chromosome brought to us.

Zack is an incredibly loving boy who dotes on his sister and offers her hugs and cuddles. He gives his Momma endless kisses and high-fives his Daddy like he’s a superhero.

He is, in many ways, just like any other five-year-old. He attends school throughout the week, is making new friends and is rapidly expanding his vocabulary. He learns many new things every day, always seeking out bits of information. But our lives are so blessed not because of how well he is growing and developing, but rather for how much he has taught us.

He has taught us to be patient and to trust; he challenges us to pause and listen, seek to learn ourselves. He makes us want to fight harder every single day for a world of opportunity and inclusion, acceptance and hope.

A world with Down Syndrome is rapidly different today than it was five years ago; and is a polar opposite from the antiquated thoughts of generations before; with the help of NDSS, we know that the future will only be brighter for our family and that wherever our journey takes us, we have the resources and guidance to adjust, educate and advocate.

We are asking that you consider a donation on behalf of Zachary, his little sister and the many families who are traveling down the same road.

The National Down Syndrome Society has been dedicated to making a marked difference for people with Down syndrome since 1979. NDSS works to create a culture that fully accepts and includes the more than 400,000 Americans with Down syndrome. NDSS envisions a world in which all people with Down syndrome have the opportunity to enhance their quality of life, realize their life aspirations, and become valued members of welcoming communities.

The process is fast, easy, and secure. I truly appreciate any support you can provide. It will benefit a great cause!

If you can't make a donation at this point, help me reach my goal by sharing this page on Facebook and Twitter!
