We are finally getting the chance to not only cure, but prevent future suffering.

I am thrilled to share that I have been accepted into  Mama Hope's Global Advocate Fellowship Program. Mama Hope is a nonprofit that trains impact entrepreneurs from around the world and partners them with visionary leaders in developing countries. Together, they fund and build community-identified sustainable projects using local resources that help lift communities out of poverty. Over the next nine months, I will be gaining a tangible set of skills to leverage my passion for sustainable change within the global community (cool, right?).

I am reaching out to my community who recognizes the importance for preventive care on a global scale. Now is your chance to take part! Since 2007, Flying Kites Home and School has been providing shelter, food, and education to ignite the potential of Kenya’s most vulnerable and critically poor children. We are impacting our students toward healthy lifestyles, but need your help to ensure the well-being of our passionate students.

Here’s How: We don’t want our students to rely on us, alone. We want our students to learn methods for self-empowerment and take ownership of their own decision-making. Therefore, the need for a Health Education Curriculum is necessary to give the students the tools they need to…
  • prevent disease by resolving any misconceptions about health topics
  • learn how to effectively access health resources and form partnerships with healthcare providers
  • reduce stigma (i.e. against sexual abuse, HIV-positive individuals, L.G.B.T.I.A. communities, etc.)
  • engage in self-management workshops for our students living with HIV and/or other chronic diseases
  • safely approach relationships and improve communication skills
  • advocate for themselves, their local community, and beyond

How You Can Help Us!
In order to effectively ensure the health and stability of Flying Kites’ children, I have committed to fundraising $20,000 by Nov 1st, 2016 (less than 3 months from now!). All donations made are going directly into the project we are undertaking at Flying Kites, and all donations are tax-deductible. Your support  for our project is crucial in creating a world where we do more than cure disease, we prevent it. Please, donate to the Kate Flies Kites Fundraiser, and take part in the many ways you can be involved in guaranteeing a world where people are healthy and empowered by their choices.
  • Donate to the fundraising page, Kate Flies Kites! A receipt will be provided for your tax-deductible donation.
  • Please, contact me about additional funding support! Your affiliated organizations might provide us with grant or matching-donation opportunities.
  • Check out our progress through KateFliesKites Facebook Page and Tumblr Blog! Like, share, and share again to help us promote the amazing work we are doing for Flying Kites’ passionate and bright children : )
  • http://suyendesigns.etsy.com/ - 30% of profits are donated to the Kate Flies Kites Fundraiser, with free shipping!
