Hello, everyone!  My name is Tess and I am 27 years old.  I currently have a high school diploma, an associate's degree, and quite nearly a bachelor's degree under my belt.  One day I intend for there to be a master's and maybe even a doctorate.  How have I been able to achieve these things?  Not just with hard work, dedication, and perseverence, but because I live in a country where I am encouraged to get an education.  I don't live in a place where I have to hide my text books or risk my safety sneaking to school.  However, millions of other girls around the world do.

I've wanted to do something for a long time to help girls and women around the world who are less fortunate than myself, but I didn't know what I could do.  One thing that I think is very important and a very basic right is education, and to know that there are so many children and women around the world who are either not allowed, or who are too busy with responsibilities only adults should have to go to school is just heartbreaking.  After reading I Am Malala, I decided to visit her website, where I learned I could begin a fundraiser to help support education for girls.  Malala's committment and passion have inspired me.  I've set a goal to raise $5,000 for The Malala Fund by the end of 2016.  Please take a moment to read the following and to consider donating to my campaign:

Did you know that over 60 million girls worldwide are out of school? I think this is totally unacceptable, so I’m taking a stand. I hope you'll join me.

Education activist and co-founder of the Malala Fund, Malala Yousafzai, has shown that one child, one teacher, one book, and one pen can change the world. I’m fundraising to help the Malala Fund fight for 12 years of education for all girls.

If you’re able to help with any size donation, your gift will:

  • Amplify girls’ voices by giving them a platform to connect with the Malala Fund and each other.
  • Support local leaders and organizations in Nigeria, Pakistan, Kenya, and places housing Syrian refugees. We invest in these on-the-ground organizations because we believe real, lasting change will ultimately come from empowered local leadership.
  • Advocate for the necessary resources and policy changes to enable all girls to receive safe, quality education.

Thank you in advance for your support!
