Welcome to my fundraising page! First and foremost, all proceeds go to 31Heroes to assist the initiative of sending veterans to cutting edge brain centers for PTSD/TBI treatment.

As a physical therapist, I have the opportunity to work with many of our nation's veterans as they recover from their particular physical injury.  My family is filled with veteran's. Both of my parents, my brother, brother-in-law and his twin, multiple uncles and cousins and even extended family all served.    Although I did not have the opportunity to serve this great nation, I wanted to have the opportunity to give back to the brave men and women who have.

While growing up, I was the youngest of 3 children. My brother is 10 years older than I am with my sister being 5 years older than I am. On September 11, 2001, our nation and my family would be changed forever. Eight days later on September 19,2001, my brother, a Navy sailor, was deployed on the USS Roosevelt to the Persian Gulf. They arrived on station 2 weeks later and spent 159 consecutive days at sea. During this deployment him and his wife were expecting their first child. During the second deployment, he was stationed on the USS Enterprise. It was on this trip that the United States invaded Iraq.  Altogether, my brother served 12 years 2 months which included 4 tours to the Persian Gulf in our United States Navy. Four years after being discharged from the Navy, my brother became 100% disabled due to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

On August 6, 2011, a tragedy shook the military community and Americans everywhere. In a single instance, America lost 30 military service members, many of whom were members of the Navy SEAL community—and one military K9– when a CH-47 Chinook helicopter, call sign Extortion 17, was downed in Afghanistan.

In the wake of the unimaginable tragedy, a mission was born. Following the downing of Extortion 17, a fundraising WOD—hosted at more than 430 gyms around the country with more than 10,000 participants—raised $300,000 over a four-week period to support the 30 families affected. This prompted the organizers to create The 31Heroes Project to remember our fallen heroes and take care of their loved ones.

Humbled by the massive response and inspired by the impact on the families of these heroes, 31Heroes recognized an opportunity to reach even more families. Soon, new events and WODs were organized with the help of a growing network of passionate volunteers.

Due to all the support from every one last year, 2016, we raised $1657. This year lets continue to make a difference and spread the word about the 31 heroes project.  I will be participating again in World's Toughest Mudder which is a 5-mile course ran as many times over a 24-hour period.  https://toughmudder.com/events/worlds-toughest-mudder. In 2016 I ran 40 miles and completed all 24 hours.  This Year, on Novmeber 11-12, I am going for 50+ while continuing to raise awareness for this cause. On behalf of 31Heroes, I am raising money and awareness through social and athletic events to support the families of Extortion 17 and honor their legacy by funding the treatment of TBI/PTSD.

Our brave men and women who have served left behind more than just memories. They’ve given us a legacy to honor.  Everyone knows a loved one who has served our country. Together, we can ensure the mission to honor the fallen lives and veterans and to ensure they are not forgotten when they return home.
