Dear friends,

It’s my great honor to be singing with the Sing for America (SFA) Chorus held on April 9th at the San Francisco Palace of Fine Arts. This year SFA will celebrate The 70s as well as feature a wonderful range of music from Mozart to Bizet to Gilbert & Sullivan to Sondheim to Queen.

Here is the list of the song that we are going to share our passion of singing to the audience:

A Chorus Line
Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen)
Dance a Cachucha (G&S)
Dream On (Aerosmith)
I'll Be There (Jackson 5)
Misericordias Domini (Mozart)
Pure Imagination (Willy Wonka)
Superstar (Andrew Lloyd Webber)
When the Buds are Blossoming (G&S)
and more…

I started singing when I was three years old. Though I don’t pursue singing as my career, it is my salvation. It’s who I am. I love singing from my heart to support good causes and have performed for many charities in Vietnam and the Bay Area. This year is more special for me because of through singing, I am able to support both wonderful nonprofit organizations in San Francisco to achieve their mission.

Sing for America is a not-for-profit organization that helps people raise funds through singing. SFA was conceived as a ten or so week event that would bring together some of the 30 million adult Americans who sing in choruses across the US. The organization empowers professional and amateurs to raise their voices to support other needy organizations through fundraising. Last year their 2016 Benefit Concert, “SFA Goes to the Movies” raised over $125,000, supported around 80 nonprofits across Bay Area.

It is my first time to participate in the amazing benefit concert this year, and I picked the Vietnamese Youth Development Center (VYDC) as a beneficiary.

For those who may not know:

VYDC is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1977 in Tenderloin, San Francisco. The organization has been serving thousands of at-risk youth, low-income families, and immigrants to build their knowledge and confidence for self-sufficiency.  Recognized by Boards of Supervisors at the State, City and Country, VYDC has been constantly providing multiple services such as free employment training, health & wellness workshops, leadership, translation services, and academic tutoring to all San Francisco communities. Though located at the heart of district 6 with a high concentration of crime, violence, drug transactions, social abuse, and negative environmental impacts on the health , VYDC has served 500 teen, youth, and families every year. However, they are now facing more challenges this year due to an enormous increase of homeless and crime rates in the neighborhood. In addition, there has been a shortage of volunteers and resources from the food bank; they have additional burden of making sure the center is a safe and friendly environment for those they serve.

Please join me in supporting the wonderfully good cause by contributing  a tax-deductible donation above to make the Benefit Concert 2017 possible and supporting VYDC’s invaluable contribution and leadership to our community.  Here are different ways to showcase your great support:
