We paddle 21 miles for 10 hours, down the full length of Lake Austin into the wind, to create noise and awareness for mental health. We must find our 'flatwater' to persevere; a mental calm from the stress of all the struggles we face.

Why?

In 2011 & 2012, I was rocked by two tragic deaths of very close loved ones (1 cancer-related). I went through a very dark period thereafter. Thankfully close friends, the Moscoes, suggested I seek a therapist. I finally made an appointment. After realizing the impact mental therapy work had and continues to have on me; I knew how important it is.

This event, Dam that Cancer, and The Flatwater Foundation have improved my life significantly.

Sitting at family dinner - there used to be 4 - now there are 3. Cancer was a massive elephant in the room. The Flatwater Foundation allowed my family to constructively cope with the hole created in our hearts from a terrible disease. My mother and sister are Flatwater donors, volunteers, and my paddle support staff.

I want EVERYONE to be aware of the benefits of mental therapy and sound mental health. The Flatwater Foundation is my vehicle to spread my mission.

I'd love your support; spreading the word, making a donation, or seeking to improve your own mental health.

Oh yeah, after we finish 10 hours of paddling, we want to celebrate with YOU. The party is at the LCRA grounds at the Tom Miller Dam. Learn more about the party @ tylersdtc.com

If you have any questions about therapy, the organization, or the event please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
