Memories of 2015 bring me to a standstill.  My young, strong, talented sister and my son's best friend died from cancer within a month of each other.  Although Karen and Spencer received excellent medical care for their physical disease, the trauma they suffered emotionally for multiple years was not treated adequately and it still breaks my heart.  Whether a cancer is terminal or not, patients need ongoing and integrated professional support - it's just too hard for family and friends to really grapple with.

My neighbors, Natalie and Rich Drake - both physicians and tireless warriors in the fight - asked me to join their team participating in this great event.  I feel it was meant to be and agreed to raise money with them - even though I typically shy away from 'asking my friends for money'.

On June 12, we will stand-up paddle board 21 miles on the Colorado River to raise money for The Flatwater Foundation . This concept links individuals with a cancer diagnosis and in financial need, with trained professional therapists who can provide vital assistance in navigating their frightening and complex situation.

Any amount you sponsor will be a significant gift. The process is fast, easy, and secure. Learn more at tylersdtc.com (watch this video,  the song could have been written for Karen).

If you can’t make a donation at this point, help me reach my goal by sharing this page on Facebook and Twitter. Or, even better, send an e-mail to friends you think might be interested in contributing and include a link to my page.

Thanks so much for your time.  Megan.
