Hello, my name is Carolina Ball, I am 21 years old. Just recently, graduated with my bachelors from St. Mary's University. My last semester of college was a rollercoaster of emotions, as graduation approached and I found myself with many big decisions to make. Filling out applications, going through a discernment process, and of course, in prayer, I am certain of God's calling for me to spend a year of service in Ecuador.

I first learned about Rostro de Cristo through a program in my university, where I participated for a week as a retreatant. Then, the following year I was invited to be part of the program again. That experience, not only did it changed my life, but it helped to deepen my faith.  It shattered my heart into pieces, yet my faith in God was stronger than ever. The invitation to be a year-long volunteer for me is a true privilege. 

During my year as a volunteer, I will be living in community with other volunteers. We will have the opportunity to work within sectors of education, healthcare, community development, and social work. I will be immersing myself in the ministry of presence with our neighbors, accompanying them their daily joy and struggle.

Ecuador for me is a call to love, a place where you can recognize God in the simplest forms or in the smallest things. I don't know exactly what this year is going to entail, but I do know that with God's helping hand this year is going to be a year of love, appreciation, and growing. I am looking forward to continue learning and growing alongside the Ecuadorian community.
