Please join us for dinner or make a donation! Here's our story...
Few people have heard of a rare form of dementia that robs people in the prime of their lives of their personality, behavior, language and movement. This early onset form of dementia is called Frontotemporal Degeneration (FTD) and it mostly affects those between the ages of 45-64.
My husband, David Kelly, was diagnosed with this progressive disease in April, 2017. FTD has caused David to have increasing difficulty with planning and organizing, behaving appropriately in social and work settings, and communicating with and relating to others. Due to his diagnosis, David had to retire early from his career as a pharmacy technician and as a pastoral musician.
Just as we were beginning to accept our lives with FTD as our new normal, David was additionally diagnosed with ALS in July, 2018. People with a diagnosis of FTD/ALS ultimately will have no ability to stand, walk, talk, eat or breathe on their own. Our family is grateful to have wonderful support from family, friends, colleagues and the AFTD – Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration.
On Saturday, September 29, 2018, we along with some friends will be hosting an Italian Dinner as a Food for Thought event. There will be a basket raffle, live music and a chance to learn more about FTD. Please consider joining us...
Italian Dinner Fundraiser for AFTD
Saturday, September 29, 2018
5:00 pm - 8:00 pm (Dinner served at 5:30 pm)
Corrigan Gym @ St. Charles Borromeo Church
5891 Ridge Road
Parma, OH 44129
Tickets are available at the St. Charles Parish Office for $9.50 per person.
If you can't make it, please consider making a donation! Our goal is to raise $2,000 in support of AFTD. The money will be used toward important support for families affected by FTD including respite care and education.
AFTD is a nonprofit organization (Tax ID # 41-2073220) founded in 2002 to advocate for more funding into the causes and treatments of FTD, as well as provide caregivers and patients with a dependable source of accurate, reliable information and support. The AFTD works to advance research, awareness, support, education and advocacy.
We are appreciative of any donation that you can make to our dinner so the money we raise can directly benefit AFTD.
Thank you in advance for your support! Sincerely,
Michelle & David Kelly
