Help me fundraise for Special Olympics Colorado!
I have the best job in the world. I'm willing to jump in very cold water to prove it :)
This will be EXPAND's third year plunging, and we are hoping to make it the best yet! We love this event because it benefits both EXPAND and Special Olympics. EXPAND is Boulder Parks and Recreation's therapeutic recreation program. We provide recreation opportunities for people of all abilities and have had the pleasure of partnering with Special Olympics to help provide programming and attend tournaments and special events. EXPAND offers a ton of Special Olympic sports including basketball, skiing, snowboarding, gymnastics, swimming, softball, flag football, soccer and volleyball. This plunge supports our athletes in participating in these awesome sports.
Last year, the plunge specifically helped our athletes in getting new basketball jerseys, attending the state skiing competition, obtaining new sports equipment, celebrate our accomplishments and so much more!

This is a donation made in joyful memory of my captivating daughter, Maguy Banker. Maguy had Epilepsy and mild Aspergers. On August 6th Maguy suffered a seizure and drowned while fishing at the East Boulder Rec pond. Maguy grew up in Crested Butte, CO and, despite all efforts to the contrary by her classmates, teachers, and our community, was socially rejected. So we brought her down to Boulder to finish high school and stumbled upon the EXPAND program where for the first time Maguy experienced inclusion, friendship and being valued and needed. Having self worth while having fun and being "a part of" rather than "apart from" can only come from experiencing true acceptance just as you are. You cannot put a valuation on what EXPAND and Special Olympics did in helping a human being bloom. With perpetual gratitude and love, Joan & Maguy's sister, Elizabeth WE LOVE YOU CHELSEA!!!
