Fine Earth Adventure Race/Walk for Warriors - Benefiting K9s For Warriors
For the first time ever, the Harrisonburg Police Department SWAT team obstacle course is open to the public. Come test your skills on the course where Virginia's finest SWAT teams compete. This SWAT team obstacle course is the toughest physical and mental test you will ever face. This is for elite athletes only who are at the highest fitness and strength levels. Worried this is too much? No problem, we have a Walk for Warriors and Intermediate course set up as well. Enjoy the day while raising money for K9s for Warriors, a nonprofit organization that rescues dogs from kill shelters and trains them to help Veterans with PTSD. Teams of a minimum of four people (maximum - unlimited) will compete for time. The individual that raises the most money will win the Grand Prize (see picture below of the hand made American Flag - Value $1000). You will have an amazing day taking on the adventure courses, enjoying food, family activities, listening to The Hacken Boys live and having a chance to win great prizes. This is also a chance to thank Veterans and Active Military for their service and sacrifice.

Know Your Why
22 Veterans a day commit suicide. That is over 8,000 suicides a year and over 125,000 Veteran suicides in the last 15 years. It truly has become an epidemic. Our warriors need our help and our best effort. The good news, is we have found an organization that is helping our Veterans and truly getting amazing results. K9s for Warriors rescues dogs from kill shelters and trains them to be service dogs for Veterans with PTSD. Not only are the Veterans getting help with their PTSD, but they are getting their lives and families back. What is happening is truly a miracle. All proceeds from The Fine Earth Adventure Race go to K9s for Warriors. Pictured directly below is SgtMajor, Jim Kuiken (ret) and his dog Freedom, who will be our honored guest at the event. Jim is a multi-combat, wounded Marine (served 30 years) who became one of the most senior enlisted leaders in the Marine Corps. Jim was awarded the Legion of Merit, a Purple Heart and 3 Combat Action Ribbons. He is also a former firefighter/EMT and served in law enforcement. Jim is currently a writer, speaker an advocate for many worthwhile causes.
