At the event we will celebrate a Young Urban Hero from each of our partner programs and their hard work to transform their lives. We also honor two Corporate Urban Heroes, Adam Schwartz, Head of U.S. and European Real Estate, Angelo Gordon & Co. and Ed Adler, Managing Director, Deutsche Bank Securities. Head of U.S. & European Real Estate, Angelo, Gordon & Co.
Adam R. Schwartz is the head of the U.S./Europe real estate group and a member of the executive committee for Angelo, Gordon & Co., a leading alternative investment money management firm with $27 billion of capital under management. Adam joined Angelo, Gordon in 2000 and has been directly responsible for, or overseen, in excess of $9 billion of real estate assets at the firm through a series of opportunistic and core plus real estate funds.
Adam has significant experience in the acquisition and repositioning of all property types. Prior to joining the firm, Adam worked in the acquisitions group at Vornado Realty Trust, a public real estate investment trust. His work focused on the acquisition of public and private real estate companies in addition to single asset acquisitions. Adam received a B.A. degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
Adam is a member of the executive committee of the Zell-Lurie Real Estate Center at The Wharton School and a trustee of the Urban Land Institute.
Managing Director, Deutsche Bank Securities
Ed Adler is Managing Director responsible for the US Commercial Real Estate Group at Deutsche Bank for which he rejoined in 2011, focusing on the origination, structuring, execution and distribution of commercial real estate loans. Previously, Mr. Adler was Managing Director and head of Americas and the Asian Real Estate Finance business for the Fixed Income Division of Citigroup. Prior to joining Citigroup, Mr. Adler ran the Asian Real Estate Finance and Securitization businesses for Deutsche Bank Securities in Tokyo, Japan.
Mr. Adler began his banking career at Citicorp in 1988. From 1988 to 1998, Mr. Adler managed several loan and real estate assets and business lines at Citicorp, Inc. Mr. Adler’s experience at Citicorp consisted of construction lending, restructuring over $3 billion of commercial real estate and corporate debt, structuring credit derivatives, and full profit and loss responsibility for a $7.5 billion portfolio subprime consumer credit card debt.
Mr. Adler graduated with honors from Union College with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and holds an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.
