ASAP's Veterans Comedy Show & Fundraiser
“Just one laugh, that one subject that makes you smile, takes you away from your moment of stress and makes all the difference in the world.” -Clifton Hoffler, US Army Veteran and Comedy Bootcamp Alum
Overview: The Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP) is proud to partner with Barclays and Gotham Comedy Club to host a special Veterans Comedy Show and Fundraiser. Join us for an all-veteran comedy line-up as Benari Poulten (The Nightly Show, US Army), Justine Elena (The Daily Show, USMC), PJ Walsh (Blue Collar Comedy, US Navy), and three graduates of ASAP's Comedy Bootcamp program take the Gotham Comedy Club stage. Comedy Bootcamp is the first stand-up comedy class in the country for veterans, providing them with a meaningful outlet to derive a sense of purpose, community, and healing benefits. This performance will foster an honest and hilarious dialogue about the veteran, military, and human experience. Proceeds from the show will benefit ASAP's future classes and workshop for veterans and military families.
When & Where: Tuesday, June 6th at 6:30PM at Gotham Comedy Club (208 W. 23rd St., New York, NY). Doors will open at 6:00PM for all guests.
General Admission Tickets: General Admission tickets are $50 online and at the door. Ticketed guests are required to purchase a minimum of two drinks at the comedy club.
Open Bar Tickets: Open Bar tickets are $200, and are only available online. These tickets include unlimited free drinks and passed hors d'oeuvres before and during the show. Proceeds from General Admission and Open Bar ticket sales will directly benefit the Armed Services Arts Partnership, which is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
About the Armed Services Arts Partnership (ASAP): ASAP helps veterans, service members, and military families reintegrate into their communities through the arts. ASAP promotes expression, skill-building, and camaraderie through seven- to ten-week classes in stand-up comedy, improv, storytelling, and creative writing. ASAP then partners with local colleges, arts organizations, and performance venues to offer its graduates continuous opportunities for artistic and personal growth. In the process, ASAP provides participants with transferable life skills, a renewed sense of purpose, and healing benefits, and strengthens ties between veterans and their communities through the arts.
